Wolverine Cloth: The Self Healing Material

Image
If you've watched the famous Marvel movie "X-Men"(2000) or "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" or just "Logan" you must be familiar to indestructible superhero Wolverine. It is illustrated in fiction that the hero can self heal his own skin after any injury to it. Getting idea from this, scientists of Los Angeles have developed a transparent, self-healing, highly stretchable conductive material that can be electrically activated to power artificial muscles and used to improve batteries, electronic devices and robots. The low-cost, easy to produce soft rubber-like material can stretch 50 times its original length, researchers say, after being cut, it can completely re-attach, or heal, in 24 hours at room temperature. In fact, after only five minutes of healing the material can be stretched two times its original length. The findings from researchers, including those from University of California, Riverside in the US, represent the first time scientist...

What is Light?

Have you ever looked at night sky with a pinchful of curiosity? The moon, the stars, the constellations and all those so called heavenly bodies! It is often said that when we are looking at the night sky, we're looking back in time. It is absolutely true.  Speed of light is 300,000,000m/sec. This means,if I wave my hand a meter away from you, you'll see me waving my hand 0.000000003 seconds later. It is true that this much time is so so so little that we'd never feel it. But when things come in space and distances lengthen, everything is quite confusing and equally beautiful! You'll see a guy waving his hand 3,000,000kms away from you after 10 seconds! There exist objects in universe that are far from us more than these numbers. There might be a planet out there from where a person(sort of an alien)(if they exist) would have been watching your first birthday through his/her telescope. Some people say time travel is possible if we could move with speed of light...

PHYSICS:HOW FAR WE ARE!?

Image
Humans have curiosity about their origin since time unknown. Ancient humans observed the rains, the thunderstorms, the fire and the seasons which made them think about why they occur. Here come out two ways of thinking. One,(quite simpler one) GOD did it. Two,(quite harder one) We'll have to THINK. Everyone must ask questions and try to find their answers. But how did this great quest for knowledge begun? In older times (even before the birth of Christ) there used to be flocks of philosophers of various thinking streams. No one will call us wrong if we'd say these philosophers were early physicists. They used to regard works to be done by using own hands to be less sacred. This is the reason why Chemistry and even experimental physics were born after theoretical physics. As you and me are living in modern times,it becomes quite harder to believe what I just said. How can one propose a scientific theory without any experiments? But they did! They'd just sit in a armchair, fly...
